Are You A Watchmen?

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem. They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes, and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
Isaiah 62:6-7

The preceding passage from the book of Isaiah portrays a remarkable work of intercession. Here, God reveals a particular appointment in which He, in the magnitude of His own will can authorize.

Men and women who are complacent about the manifestation of God’s will, need not apply. As a matter of fact, no one can make themselves partakers of this type of call, for it is God who is the Chief Distributor of this anointing.

This type of anointing, in the realm of the spirit, brings havoc to the kingdom of darkness and shakes up dimensions in the atmosphere that can utterly subdue the enemy and bring his diabolical work to a screeching halt. What is the name of such a Divine appointment? What type of appointment is this which carries with it an explosive armament of power and the Spirit? Well, it is the call and appointment of the Watchman.

Watchmen are comprised of God’s prophets and faithful intercessors. They are likened unto sentinels, or guards, who have been given a charge by their Commanding Officer to guard against potential attacks of the enemy. A watchmen’s tour of duty is to faithfully watch over designated places by which they have been assigned. Assignments include communities, states, nations, and yes, even the church, to usher in the will of God through prayer and intercession.

History reveals that watchmen were stationed on the towers of a city and were responsible for spotting approaching armies and sounding the alarm to warn the city so that they could secure the city and prepare for battle. However, a watchman’s failure to sound the alarm was punishable by death. Israel’s prophets saw themselves as watchmen, warning the nation of God’s approaching judgment if the people did not repent.

In addition, watchmen never cease to pray for the establishment of two predetermined realities. These realities include the advancement of God’s Kingdom on earth with the inclusion of Christ’s eminent, distinguished, and prominent rule. Within the realm of the second reality is this: Watchmen are so committed to the work of intercession that they desire that God receives no rest until the church breaks forth as a dynamic praise in the earth and the full interests of God are superimposed and established and within her.
